The curtain for trade shows in Korea that took a short pause this year is rising again. Domestic trade shows that shrunk under the influence of COVID-19 is now equipped to attract exhibitors one by one.
The exhibition that is shooting the flare gun in COEX is Seoul International Wines & Spirits Expo 2020. Korea’s largest and only general liquor trade show Seoul International Wines & Spirits Expo 2020 will be held at COEX in Samseong-dong, Seoul for three days from June 12 (Fri) to 14 (Sun), concurrently with Seoul International Wine Expo, The Beer Expo Seoul, and World Traditional Alcoholic Beverage Festival.
The organizer KIECO (Korea International Exhibition) said, “This year, all industries are experiencing more difficulties than ever before due to the outbreak of COVID-19. The liquor industry is also in a very difficult situation with the sales hitting rock bottom due to social distancing that caused a drastic reduction of meetings and dinners.” He continued, “For the new liquor companies that are struggling in finding sales channels, SIWS 2020 held just once this year will be the only opportunity for business that can help them.”
He strongly expressed the excitement for the show and said, “Also in this year, we will prepare various side events such as the 2020 Hwayo Cocktail Championship, Homebrewing Championship, Korean liquor seminar, wine seminar, and beer seminar. We are giving out gifts at the site, and also first-come-first-served events.”
For the safety of the visitors and exhibitors from COVID-19, Seoul International Wines & Spirits Expo 2020 will be using the thermal imaging cameras at all entrances of COEX and disinfecting the site twice a day. Strict quarantine activities by filling out health questionnaires, and temperature checks with thermal cameras and thermometers will be performed for all individuals entering the exhibition.
