Hancom Hunminjeongeum vertical writing font, developed by Hancom in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of its founding, is the font developed in the direction of preserving the original Hunminjeongeum Haerye text designed by free talent contribution of Yoondesign Group (CEO Pyeon Seok-hoon), the company specializing in digital font development and typo branding.
It was developed by applying the vertical writing form of the Hunminjeongeum haerye text. After careful analysis of the shapes of the character and proportions of the existing Hunminjeongeum haerye text, it was completed in its form by referring to Donggukjeongun and Seokbosangjeol, which were published at around the same time as Hunminjeongeum.
In addition, by faithfully reflecting the opinions of the advisory committee consisting of Professor Hong Yoon-pyo (former professor of Korean Language and Literature at Yonsei University), Professor Park Byung-chun (former Professor Emeritus of Gyeongin National University of Education), and Professor Yoo Jeong-sook (professor of multidesign at Kangwon National University) to improve readability and usability as digital letters.
Hancom’s Hunminjeongeum vertical writing font supports 1,638,750 characters, which is the largest character that can be expressed by our old Hangeul and makes it useful for digitizing old Korean texts. It supports 11,172 Korean letters, 94 alphabets, 986 KS symbols, 42 vertical punctuations, and 11 mooring symbols. Hancom plans to further develop and release Hunminjeongeum horizontal writing style in the future.
Hancom Malangmalang font is provided in two kinds of thickness, Bold and Regular, to increase the usability. It was developed based on Hancom’s BI (Brand Identity) Malangmalang logo, containing the characteristics of the logo in a soft but dynamic form.
Hancom Sans font comes in two types, light and semi bold, depending on the thickness. It was developed to be consistent with Hancom’s CI (Corporate Identity), and delivers a clear image based on basic shapes such as circles, triangles, and squares.
