Powwel participated in the Korea International Welding & Cutting Automation Show 2020 (WELDING KOREA 2020) held at the Changwon Convention Center (CECO) from Oct. 20 (Tue) to 23 (Fri) to introduce 500 XP, its plasma welding machine.
Powwel has been leading the development and production of various inverter power supplies such as welding machines and rectifiers, starting from the localization of inverter plasma cutting machines in 1991 to the development of orbital welding machines and plasma welding machines.
Based on the know-how of development and production so far, the company established the affiliated research center to supply special welding devices for various purposes and industrial power supplies, and it is developing a welding machine capable of more complete quality control by incorporating digital technology.
The official said, “Powwel is doing its best to supply more perfect products by performing various field tests before mass production of the final product by starting a development review considering the user’s convenience and usage environment from the product development plan.”
The 500XP introduced at this exhibition is the plasma welding machine. Plasma welding is similar to TIG welding. The tungsten electrode is built into the nozzle of the copper electrode to generate a PILOT ARC, and through this, the ARC with the base material (welding sample) is connected to become the main welding state, and welding can be performed. Plasma welding has little contamination or abrasion of the electrode, enables precise and high-density welding, and the start and end of the welding point are smooth with one arc ignition.
Particularly, POWELL 500XP- PLASMA welding machine can be applied to the welding of fine metals, and the welding data can be digitally set by microprocessor control, and the set value can be stored in 20 channel memories. In addition, precise output control up to 10 amps can be done, and the application range of welding has been expanded by freely changing the setting of sequence according to the characteristics of the base material.
Power control is done by IGBT inverter in PWM control method, with advantages like small size, light weight, and power consumption reduction as well as the advantages of an inverter that can freely control output. It can be controlled variously in pulse and slope modes with crater control, enabling precise and reliable welding.
The Korea International Welding & Cutting Automation Show 2020 is hosted by Gyeongsangnam-do and Changwon-si, providing various welding and cutting technology-related information that reflect the latest trends.
