A startup is receiving spotlights from Korea and overseas with its personal fascia massager for relaxation that people who suffer from muscle pain and those who enjoy exercise that can use anytime and anywhere. Strig is the name of the company that is building a comprehensive healthcare platform. Last year, the company attracted successful funding through Kickstarter, the largest funding sites in the US, and Indiegogo. Last February, it has released the portable massager Strig M-1 that anyone can use to give a professional massage, bringing sensation to the market.
When a muscle problem occurs, a taut band is created in the muscle and causes pain. To remove this, a method of rubbing or vibrating with an appropriate force is necessary, but rubbing by hand is not enough to remove the hard bands, and it causes strain on the hand. As a result, Strig developed the Strig M-1 Pro to make it easier and more comfortable to obtain a high level of massage and treatment effects. In particular, this product is a fascia relaxation tool called IASTM (Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization) that physical therapists use most for the treatment of muscles, and the world’s first micro-current and micro-vibration technology is incorporated to revolutionize the performance of portable massagers.
“Strig M-1 Pro is composed of five edges that can be selected according to the shape of the human body and the part of the joint,” said Oh Hwan-gyeong, the CEO of Strig. He added, “There are five edges, one for each for massaging treating concave parts of the human body and muscles, wide muscles such as the thigh and lower extremities, narrow muscles in detail, and neck and shoulders.” Strig M-1 Pro, a method that lubricates and rubs the skin like IASTM tools, the added vibration stimulates the muscles more evenly, and the microcurrent helps the muscles recover. , Also, this product, which is inexpensive compared to the existing professional tools, is designed to be able to replace the battery so that it can be used semi-permanently, and it is safe because it is made of 99% stainless steel.
People in different parts of the society are purchasing Strig Pro, including professional athletes, students and office workers experiencing muscle pain due to poor posture, and hobbyists who enjoy various sports activities. In particular, men in their mid-20s to early 40s who like exercise form a thick purchase base, and purchases at various exercise centers and hospitals such as fitness clubs, Pilates centers, yoga studios, and massage shops are also steadily increasing.
“Athletes have high preferences for muscle therapy or massagers that are effective,” said Oh. He added, “Many sports clubs have asked about the product even before the product was publicized, and the number of customers increased a lot by the words of the athlete’s words of mouth.” Currently, Strig Pro is widely used not only by national athletes’ villages, but also by sports players from many professional teams such as LX cycle team, Lotte Golf Club, and Lotte Baseball Team.
CEO Oh said, “Even when the quality is good, there is still a limit to entering the global market. So, from the beginning of the business, we have set the goal to provide the diagnostic solution by the education platform and application to enter the global market effectively.” In particular, Oh said, “In general, it is important to find the trigger point that is a problem in the pre-treatment stage. The application we develop accurately finds the trigger point and informs you of the appropriate massage and treatment, exercise, and stretching methods.” Also, Strig is preparing online and offline training to maximize the effectiveness of treatment and massage.
Its sales have grown by more than 20% per month since February 2020, and it is expanding the market. It was founded by two people, and there are now seven people. Within this year, it will hire two more people. Oh said, “Pangyo is greatly helpful in hiring high-quality human resources in the manpower pool that encompasses Gangnam and southern Gyeonggi.” “It’s the best place for business for it is easy to collect various information.”
