Wellmarker Bio is participating in the 19th MIK 2020 SEASON OFF ONLINE ZOOM event on Dec. 8, 4:00 pm as a part of KHIDI project.
Wellmarker Bio is developing patient-specific treatments by using the R&D infrastructure of Asan Medical Center’ abundant clinical information, and it is developing predictive biomarker-based first-in-class anticancer drugs, along with discovering new target and verification.
The company staff said, “We currently have a total of 9 pipelines, including WM-S1 (colorectal cancer treatment), which is preparing for Phase 1 clinical trial, and we are expanding additional pipelines through technology introduction, joint research, and internal R&D capabilities.”
He then said, “Our main technology is the development of Predictive Biomarker. Biomarkers play an important role in the development of new drugs. With the Predictive Biomarker, information about our body and treatment response to a specific patient group can be predicted, and through this, the patient’s drug response can be evaluated and measured prior to treatment. Based on tissue and blood samples and clinical information obtained from cancer patients, the company uses a variety of technologies such as genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics to develop treatments for various indications such as colon cancer, lung cancer, and liver cancer, and all treatments are being developed along with Predictive Biomarker.”
Regarding the future plans, he said, “We have a great ambition to become one of the world’s 50 largest companies by incorporating a global pharmaceutical company. To achieve this, we are planning an IPO (listing), which is considered as a kind of gateway. In addition, technology transfer between global pharmaceutical companies currently under discussion is expected to be an important goal.”
