2020 ICT Convergence Expo Korea (ITCE 2020), which was prepared for the business of ICT companies by exhibiting cutting-edge ICT convergence products and technologies under the theme “Going beyond UNTACT to ONTACT and turning crisis into opportunity through ICT” successfully completed its course in Daegu, the leading smart city of Korea.
Jointly hosted by Daegu-si and Gyeongsangbuk-do and sponsored by the Ministry of Science and ICT, 117 companies participated in 435 booths scale from Nov. 19 to 20 despite the difficult conditions due to COVID-19. Various ICT convergence products ranging from AI, big data, cloud, AR/VR, 3D printing, block chain, remote work solution, drone and robotics, smart home care, and smart device were displayed, and 6,000 people including entrepreneurs visited the exhibition.
In the non-face-to-face online export conference held to support ICT companies that are struggling to enter overseas markets due to COVID-19, 23 companies participated to see 24 foreign buyers from 11 countries including Vietnam, Singapore, Thailand, China, reporting 104 cases of consultations amounting to 33.24 million dollars worth of export.
Lilycover CEO An Seon-hee, who participated in the conference, expressed her gratitude by saying, “We didn’t know how to export our products this year due to COVID, but luckily, we had export consultation with foreign buyers, and we thank the organizer for this.”
At the venture investment briefing session in which 12 venture capital companies participated to support investment for ICT venture and start-up companies, eight companies received 34 cases of investment consulting worth 36.3 billion won, raising the anticipation for active attraction of investment in the future.
Auxiliary events include a commercialization promising technology briefing, 2020 convergence technology trend seminar, AI tech forum, and new product and new technology presentations to introduce key technologies and trends in future industries such as AI, smart city, and smart factory, and Daegu SW High School. student project presentations and employment counseling were also held to support the growth of ICT talents who will lead the future society.
Also, 22 industries, academia, and research institutes nationwide including ETRI, Daegu TP, Daegu Digital Industry Promotion Agency, Daegu Urban Corporation, Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, Daegu Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority, Gyeongbuk TP, Busan CCEI, KIBWA, Korea Information & Communication Contractors Association, Kyungpook National University, Korea Venture Capital Association, Gangwon Information & Culture Promotion Agency, and Chungbuk Innovation Institute of Science & Technology participated to showcase ICT convergence products and exchange technologies.
Deputy Mayor Hong Eui-rak of Daegu-si said, “This exhibition held in Daegu, which is stepping up as a leading smart city, was a business venue where you can experience the latest ICT convergence technologies and products. We will continue to support ICT convergence companies of the region for the development of ICT industry in the future.”
The next exhibition is scheduled to be held at EXCO, Daegu, from October 27 to 29, 2021.
