LG Group keeps building new child care centers as part of its effort to help working moms relieve their burden to raise children while working outside. The LG Welfare Foundation held on February 27 a launching ceremony for the Cheongju City Open Home for Children that the foundation donated to the city government. The six-bedroom children’s facility is capable of caring for up to 120 kids in the total floor area of 779 square meters.

To date, the company has built five such homes–including those in Paju, Gumi, Osan, Yeosu, and Cheongju–with the sixth home in Geumcheon District in Seoul being completed within months. The foundation spends about 1.5 billion won a year for children’s home building project.
